It did so in response to crisis conditions (the pandemic)-both for the subject of its research (the lived experience of creative freelancers) and for the research team themselves. The case study describes how this switch to online was not simply technical; it was the outcome of a substantial and deep process of reconsideration of the design and purpose of the research project. The case study sets out some of the practicalities, benefits, and challenges around switching online and considers that online interviewing does offer a useful alternative research method.
