In this case study, I will share the context and reasons that led to the decision of converting a research design originally intended for face-to-face administration to a remote administration, or online. Fifteen participants physically completed a study on the truth effect via face-to-face administration in our laboratory before recruitment was halted due to a nationwide lockdown. The prolonged restricted movements stemming from the lockdown hampered recruitment efforts. When the restrictions became stricter due to the rapid increase in the number of daily COVID-19 infected cases and persisting with the physical administration did not seem feasible, I decided to explore options for study participation without having the researcher and participant in the same physical space. I describe several concerns and challenges for the decision, and in the presence of several solutions, I explain the reasons and rationale behind choosing a specific solution to the various challenges. When it is decided to conduct the study using a video conferencing application (Zoom), a major consideration then was the feasibility of administering cognitive tasks through the application and if the remote or online administration would affect participants' performance. The cognitive tasks employed in the face-to-face administration could not be administered on Zoom and had to be replaced with another version. A preliminary analysis of the performance between participants in the "offline" and "online" groups suggested no significant differences in most of the measured variables. The conversion of research design to an online or remote administration was a success, and the study can proceed to completion.
