Opplysninger
Public health restrictions implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic and the curtailment of in-person interaction has greatly reduced researchers' capacity to recruit youth and families for ongoing research. The purpose of this case is to discuss and elaborate on the challenges our team experienced recruiting youth for a longitudinal, population-level study, in which we mapped young people's mental health trajectories throughout the pandemic. To mitigate these issues and meet our target sample size, we made ongoing modifications to our recruitment strategy, which relied heavily on digital media. In this paper, we discuss each of our strategies in detail and reflect on our experiences. We conclude with a summary of lessons learned throughout our project, which may support recruitment efforts of future population-level studies with youth and families.
