| Opplysninger | Based on a classic Chinese ghost story, PAINTED SKIN is a stunningly delivered and tender story of a vampire-like woman who eats the skins and hearts of her lovers. Famous mainly for his action films, Director GORDON CHAN (FIST OF LEGEND) has made a film impossible to place into one genre. Spanning everything from horror to romance, it manages to play out its scenes and balance these various genres effortlessly and with style. The film is set sometime in the late Qin dynasty or early Han dynasty. In the desert, General Wang Sheng and his men attack a Xiongnu camp, where Wang chances upon a maiden called "Xiaowei" and brings her home. Xiaowei is actually a fox spirit who feasts on human hearts to maintain her lovely and youthful appearance. Trouble brews when Xiaowei falls in love with Wang, who already has a wife, Peirong.
