Doktoravhandling. Karolinska Institutet.. - This is the first study to demonstrate that nursing left undone is on the causal path between low staffing levels and higher mortality. Taking this research together with the studies that have preceded it, this study provides evidence that higher RN staffing levels is causally linked to reduction in the risk of fatal harm to patients.
