| Opplysninger | The prevalence of psychiatric illness in 50 consecutive elderlypatients admitted with hip fracture was determined using theGeriatric Mental State in its community version, supplemented by theStandardised Mini Mental State Examination. Organic impairment wasfound in 52%, depression in 16% and obsessional neurosis in 2%. Thepresence of psychiatric illness significantly increased the length ofstay.
