Opplysninger
Darla Evyagotailak is a 16-year-old girl from Kugluktuk, Nunavut. Her maternal great-grandparents, Kate and Roy, had a traditional upbringing in Ulukhaktok, Northwest Territories, now divided from Kugluktuk by territorial borders. Darla's own life experience is very different from theirs: she goes to a modern high school, plays on the soccer team, and listens to her iPod. Still, Darla knows it is important for her to understand her people's traditions. Darla is determined to learn all she can from her Elders. In No Borders she tells the story of a journey she takes with her family over land and frozen sea from Kugluktuk to Ulukhaktok. Her journey helps her understand how she is connected to her people, her history, and the land. - Text in English with some words in Inuinnaqtun
