Opplysninger
Sainkho Namtchylak is an exceptional singer from the desert of Tuva, a small country lying on the border of Mongolia and Siberia. She has created a style combining the traditions of her nomadic past, folklore, guttural singing, and shamanism with influences from the current world of drum ‘n’ bass, hip-hop, and contemporary jazz. Includes acclaimed American musicians William Parker (bass) and Hamid Drake (drums, percussion). Shot on location at a performance at the Banlieues Bleues Festival near Paris, this film is part of La Huit’s Freedom Now collection. Total freedom was given to the directors, whose films challenge the conservative codes of shooting musical performances. Live close-up footage shot with exquisite taste and care makes the viewer feel as though he were sitting right on stage with the bands.
