Opplysninger
This dataset is designed for exploring thematic analysis conducted on vocal extremist narratives used by the group Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT) in Europe. This dataset is provided by Dr Elisa Orofino, Academic Lead for Extremism and Counter-Terrorism at the Policing Institute for the Eastern Region (PIER) at Anglia Ruskin University. The dataset is drawn from publicly available posts on social media, official websites of the group, news, and reports. This example explores the reasons why vocal extremism-in particular nonviolent Islamism-can stand as a threat to Western democracies by focusing on the role of Islamist nonstate actors in the West. Using the Islamist group HT as a case study and focusing on its antivoting campaign in Sweden in 2018, this study shows how to research on the vocal battle carried out by HT against Western states. The dataset files are accompanied by a teaching guide and a student guide.
