Opplysninger
This is quality, cutting-edge content that fits with our supp programme and SRM. These are top-drawer authors in narrative methods, and the reviews remark favourably that 'this is the team!'. Corinne is a world leading figure in narrative methods and Julia in mixed methods. The proposal originated as an edited supp that Katie was developing with them out of a large research project they have been leading, and it has taken some negotiation and to reformat this is as the coherent, authored book with the full scope that we want. There are vestiges of its genesis as an edited book, with 4 co-authors (all leading names though) and mention of contributions from other researchers in the original project at chapter level. The proposal emphasizes the NOVELLA project but the glowing reviews have allayed my concerns and highlight the coherence of the content, and I'm confident that Corinne will manage the writing with a highly attentive eye. She has also confirmed that the strong mention of NOVELLA was for us, to reassure us that it is not less than the sum of its parts. The reviews have highlighted this as an exciting, cutting-edge book, drawing on a breadth of data sources and a focus on contemporary digital discourses not usually captured by books in this field. Highlights of of the content: - cutting-edge topics in the contents, applauded by the reviewers, especially Section 3 on mixed methods and two digital chapters; - systematic 'walk-through' structure that gives a 'how-to' empowerment to readers to conduct this research themselvs; - accessibly written - while this won't be used by UG students all reviewers commented that it would be accessible enough for an UG-level reader; - attention to pedagogy, so while PG research supp it will be attractively presented with summaries to start and finish each chapter, rich vignettes, definitions and illustrative visual material.
