Opplysninger
Instant Messenger Cooperative Development (IMCD) is a framework that can be utilised by two teachers online via text chat to explore puzzles and overcome obstacles within their research or teaching. One teacher takes on the role of 'Explorer'. The other supports this exploration by reflecting back their understanding of the ongoing text chat via the role of 'Understander'. This dataset is designed for teaching diagramming in qualitative research analysis. The data are provided by Dr Andrew Boon from Toyo Gakuen University, Japan, and is taken from his doctoral study. The aims of the doctoral study were to determine how Explorers utilise the IMCD framework, the types of obstacles they experience during the research process, and whether participating in online IMCD sessions helps them to discover workable solutions to overcome these obstacles. A corpus of 32 IMCD sessions was created with 10 different case participants over a period of May 2009-January 2012. Data exemplar 1 focuses on the process of creating a move diagram after the initial coding of data has taken place to provide the researcher with a visual overview of the particular IMCD session. Data exemplar 2 contains the complete transcript of Participant G, Session 1. The dataset files are accompanied by a teaching guide and a student guide.
