Opplysninger
1. utg.: 2015. - 10 young women wake from a drugged sleep to find they've been abducted and taken to a derelict sheep-shearing station somewhere in the Australian outback. The compound is surrounded by a electrified fence, the area inside is large enough to contain an entire ecosystem including cockatoos, poisonous snakes and troops of kangaroos. The women are put to hard labour, and their two male guards treat them impersonally, sometimes brutally. Any request for explanations is met with beatings. Gradually they realise what they have in common: all have been involved in sex scandals with powerful men. The book changes gear when scheduled deliveries of food fail to arrive, and it becomes clear that the jailers themselves are helpless to escape from the compound. The prison now becomes a pocket wilderness, where survival is predicated on the ability to hunt, to grub in the dirt, go feral.
