The German Navy's U-boat force, and to a lesser extent its surface vessels, were the skilled and determined assailants who very nearly won the day. Following the formula adopted in his two previous books ("RAF: An Illustrated History" and "The Battle of Britain"), Roy Nesbit has written a short, but detailed, narrative of the battle, accompanied by a selection of some 200 archive photographs and paintings.
