It tells the true story of The Mangrove Nine, who clashed with London police in 1970. The trial that followed was the first judicial acknowledgment of behavior motivated by racial hatred within the Metropolitan Police. "The Mangrove restaurant and Franck Crichlow continued to be harassed for a further eighteen years. In 1989 his name was finally cleared at the High Court. He accepted a settlement of 50,000 pounds, which was the highest sum ever paid in damages by the Metropolitan police at that time. In all Frank Crichlow faced three trials and was acquitted three times. He pressed for an apology from the police but never received one. He closed the Mangrove for good in 1992. The Mangrove Nine : Barbara Beese, Rupert Boyce, Frank Crichlow, Rhodan Gordon, Darcus Howe, Elton Anthony Carlisle Inniss, Altheia Jones-Lecointe, Rothwell Kentish, Godfrey Millet."--ending credits. Lovers Rock : Tells a fictional story of young love at a blues party in 1980. The film is an ode to the romantic reggae genre called lovers rock, and to the black youth who found freedom and love in its sound at London house parties, at a time when they were unwelcome in white nightclubs. Red, White and Blue : After seeing his father assaulted by police officers, a young black man is driven to join the force, with hopes of changing racist attitudes from within. He soon finds himself facing both his father's disapproval and racism in the ranks. Alex Wheatle : The true story of award-winning writer Alex Wheatle, who spent his childhood in a mostly white institutional care home, he finally finds not only a sense of community for the first time in Brixton, but his identity and ability to grow his passion for music and DJing. When he is thrown in prison during the Brixton Uprising of 1981, he confronts his past and sees a path to healing. "Alex was reunited with his mother, brother and sisters in America and his father in Jamaica. Alex Wheatle has written over 15 novels for young adults. He has received many awards including an MBE for services to literature."--end credits. Education : When 12-year-old Kingsley is transferred to a special-needs school, a group of West Indian women uncover an unofficial segregation policy preventing many black children from receiving the education they deserve.. - Aldersgrense: 15 år (Rating: TV-MA)
