| Opplysninger | Short-term fluctuation in cognitive functioning was assessed in 13 subjects with presumed multi-infarct dementia (MID) and 16 subjects with presumed dementia of the Alzheimer type (DAT)by administering a short battery of cognitive tests to subjects on three occations over a period of approximately two weeks. The mean amount of fluctuation was small in both groups and was not generally greater in MID than in DAT subjects. Fluctuation therefore seems to be a univeral characteristic of MID. No serious doubt is cast on the reliability of cognitive assessments made on a single occasion in either condition.
