Opplysninger
This community study of the anxiety disorders in people aged 65 and ov er finds a relatively high prevalence of anxiety disorders (15%), with phobi c disorders being the most prevalent subclassification (12%). While generali zed anxiety was usually seen with other psychiatric syndromes, phobic disord er was usually observed in the absence of either depression or anxiety. Thes e results suggest that while generalized anxiety should be placed below depr ession in a diagnostic hierarchy, phobic disorder does not fit with this dia gnostic model.
