Thousands of young Norwegians fought against the invaders. Some in the resistance group were sent to Britain to be trained and returned to Norway to provide critical intelligence about the activities of the Germans. After their training, they would be provided by MI6. Parachuted back into Norway with a mission and supplies. During World War II, Norway had several remarkable heroes in its resistance movement: Gunnar Sonsteby and two other notables, Hugo Munthe-Kas and Max Manus. Oluf Reed-Olsen, a courageous Norwegian resistance member and pilot, emerged as a beacon of bravery during World War II. One act the sabotaging the Lysaker Bridge and operating illegal radio transmitters, continues inspiring generations. Magne Bakka and Ernst Askildsen on Risholmen by Lutsivannet. The islet was called "Jerusalem". Here, they send intelligence information to London. The SABOR station was established, and they also set up a field telephone for the mainland. They contacted port officer Kjell Søyland, who gave them reports of German convoys. The Germans found their location on 4 April 1945, killed Askildsen, and Bakka was taken to Gestapo HQ in Stavanger by the SS.
