| Opplysninger | "The purpose of this text is to present students with an accessible history of teenage roles in American movies, moving in a chronological order through various industrial cycles (such as the beach movies of the '60s and the horror films of the '80s to the fantasy films of the '10s) and across different modes of adolescent representation (such as the "bad boys" of early delinquency depictions and the "nerdy girls" of more recent school movies). The study thus considers Hollywood interests as well as audience reception, racial and sexual typing that have evolved over the past century, and the promotion of and resistance to certain youth concepts. This new edition will update the original text throughout, adding references to recent films where appropriate, expanding existing chapters and adding a new one on teen millennial films. This will include adding discussions of the emergence of subgenres within the teen film that catered to baby boomer tastes; of the first cycle of teen films, in the 1970s, to explore questions of gender identity; of the era of corporate synergy that saw teen stars cross over among film, music, and television in the 90s and early 2000s; and, finally, the fantasy and superhero-dominated landscape of millennial teen films that eschew many of the key themes of earlier youth films, featured greater franchising across multiple media channels, and a breakdown of the genre boundaries that once characterized youth films"--
