| Opplysninger | "This is a book about phronesis or practical wisdom, as excellence in moral decision-making, co-written by a philosopher and a psychologist who have both devoted considerable attention to themes within broadly Aristotelian virtue ethics. In this introductory chapter, we first outline our motivations, as well as the aims and scope of the work (in the present section). We then move to a brief overview of the wider theoretical terrain: recent theorising about character and virtues (in Section 1.2). This leads us (in Section 1.3) to an exploration of the recent theoretical literatures about phronesis and in particular the so-called 'standard neo-Aristotelian model' that has been developing gradually and that we aim to analyse further and augment in various ways in what follows. Section 1.4 discusses a number of alternative concepts of and approaches to phronesis that we have, for different reasons, mostly decided to eschew in the following chapters. The present chapter then ends with a summary of the remaining parts of the book"--
