Opplysninger | "Through their teaching and publications Johnston and Larisch became known throughout Europe as well as the United States; Larisch's books had a smaller audience, as they were never translated into English. But both men energized succeeding generations of students. Notable among the first generation were Anna Simons (1871-1951), a direct student of Johnston, and F.H. Ehmcke (1878-1965), who was deeply influenced by the ideas of Larisch but also-through Simons-those of Johnston. This book represents my research into the lives, work, and teaching of Johnston, Simons, Larisch, and Ehmcke. The last chapter, "Waves of Influence: Zürich Connections," traces their contributions during the academic year of 1920-1921 at the School of Arts and Crafts in Zürich, Switzerland, where they had a lasting, but surprisingly little-known influence on generations of students up to and including-whether they realize it or not-today's designers."--Introduction
