Instrument manufacturers and users pooled their experiences of industrial environments and the problems they pose for successfull instrument operation. There were six sessions - fluid environments, electromagnetic and ionizing radiation, human environment, varying thermal condition, vibration and shock, and the problem of specification. The forty-five short talks and discussion ranged far and wide
