Organosilica nanoparticles and medical imaging / Michihiro Nakamura. - "In this volume, we discuss controlled synthesis of MSN. Preparation of periodic mesoporous organosilica (PMO) is also discussed. We then discuss application of MSN for bone infection treatment as well as for cancer therapy. As for cancer therapy application, we describe studies using mouse models as well as a strategy to shut dows gene expression by delivering siRNA by MSN. The theme of biodistribution of MSN is revisited in this volume by the review of tumor accumulation of MSN. The issue of biodegradability of MSN is revisited by the discussion of the recent work on characterizing anticancer drug delivery capability of biodegradable PMO in the chicken egg tumor model. Finally, we discuss other materials including layered silicate and organosilica nanoparticles" - Forord
