| Opplysninger | Orosius rewrote the history of the world from a Christian perspective, which became one of the most widely-read accounts of world history through late antiquity and the Middle Ages and an important influence on much later writing of history. Sometime in the late ninth or early tenth century an Anglo-Saxon scholar embarked on his own translation and adaptation of Orosius's History. This Old English version survives only in two manuscripts of the tenth and eleventh century.--
