The oral communication of outstanding geniuses is known mostly by their contemporaries. Written communication, the publication of a great writer's "complete" works is enjoyed only by some future generation. Such has been the lot of Freud, who numbers among the most prolific of foremost letter writers in history. The present anthology focuses on several major collections of Freud's personal letters and a number of closely related matters. The volume features a solid share of references to unpublished material. There are fifteen chapters all in all, written by scholars from nine countries.
