| Patricia Jones. - Zlata's diary begins just before her eleventh birthday. In it she writes of her life in Sarajevo, her friends and family and the usual interests of girls of her age. Then as war draws closer, her friends begin to leave Yugoslavia. Soon there is no water, food, electricity; her childhood is destroyed. Now "Mimmy", the name she gives her diary, is the main confidant of her innermost thoughts and fears.
