Opplysninger
| This book centres on the family who lived first at Grøndalen, then from 1843 at Lillebråten (Veslebråten) until emigration beginning during the American Civil War. Lillebråten, a small farm originally part of a larger farm Abjør (Aaberg), Nord-Aurdal, consists of a few acres of land high on a monuntainside. A few sheep, a cow, grass to feed the animals, and some potatoes are about all that could grow on the land. The parents, Knud Pederson (b 1786) from Grøndalen, neighbor to Lillebråten, and Guro Einarsdatter (b 1792) from a small farm under the larger farm Vike, Nord-Aurdal, had six children who reached aldulthood. Four emirated beginning in 1862; two reimained in Valdres. The chapter An Emigrant Family offers a concise history of early generations of this family. Details are included in other chapters.
