Opplysninger
This case study describes an online qualitative interview research project designed to examine the workplace experiences of people diagnosed with mental health conditions and to uncover how these experiences were shaped by disclosure (or nondisclosure) of their condition in the workplace. Specifically, individuals who were diagnosed with mental health conditions and worked full-time or part-time participated in online qualitative interviews conducted via videoconferencing software (e.g., FaceTime, Zoom). This case study examines how discussing stigmatized experiences (e.g., mental health conditions) in online interview contexts can leave individuals feeling vulnerable and the steps researchers need to take to ensure that participants are comfortable and had access to critical resources upon completion of the interview. In addition, the case study covers how the interviewer's own lived experiences being diagnosed with a mental health condition provided insight regarding how to be sensitive of individuals' boundaries and triggers regarding mental health and how to best frame questions tofacilitate the interview while being sensitive to interviewee needs.
