The authors provide direction and practical insights into conducting qualitative interviews using videoconference technology, based on an actual qualitative case study that one of the authors conducted during the pandemic. The authors discuss designing and conducting videoconference interviews, communication with participants, various video conference platforms, and overcoming videoconference barriers. Next, the authors provide methodological guidance and a list of guidelines for an engaging, safe, and non-intrusive experience for interviews in the online environment. Finally, the authors provide lessons learned that are informed by the literature and first-hand experience, while also discussing the limitations and appropriateness of using videoconference technology for qualitative interviews.
