Recently, however, condiderable media attention has again focused on the drug, promting NIDA to sponsor a series of studies on contemporary LSD use. The results show that an estimated 1.8 million people use LSD annually, and the percentage of high school seniors using the drug now is only slightly lower than it was twenty years ago. There has not in fact been a resurgence in LSD use: the studies show it never went away.
