Ensuring a philosophy of rehabilitation: -A person-centred approach must be promoted, with enhanced communication at its core. - All staff working with people with dementia should be capable of enabling people to use theit abilities and retain independence for as long as possible. To achieve this, all staff have to be adequately trained. - The exixting evidence should be used to identify effective interventions for people with different needs and how they might be implemented, rather than relying on routine services. - Family carers should be invited to be involved, no matter where their releative is living. Carers should continue to be involved when the person they have been caring for has entered residential care.
