| Opplysninger | A case secondary mania occurring in a 64-year-old women on twoseparate occasions following surgery under local lignocaineanaesthesia is reported. The episodes of mania were temporallyrelated to the surgery and fulfilled DSM-III-R criteria. Thepossibility of a reaction to lignocaine is discussed and it isconcluded that the mania was secondary to the physical insult of thesurgical intervention.
